Childhood Illness / Fairy Tale of the Little Blue Riding Pants
1971
Becoming a mature professional, the formerly most creative dilettante in Estonian art has withdrawn from the precision of an engineer and sensitive pragmatism of a naturalist and playfully handed sole control for the selection and display of his works over to others. “Make your choice and put together a new series yourself,” he says confidently, handing to curator of this exhibition a folder of 57 sheets of Childhood Illness.
Childhood Illness, which consists of typewritten words, and The Fairy Tale of the Little Blue Riding Pants which takes the inner contour of the Neva razor blade as a starting point, belong to the works that serve as keys unlocking the early work of the artist.
