Dzelde Mierkalne

Dzelde Mierkalne (b. 1997) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Riga, working across drawing, sculpture, and installation. A graduate of the POST MA programme at the Art Academy of Latvia, her visual language is layered, referential, and immersive, inviting reflection on the instability of meaning, the aesthetics of collapse, and the emotional conditions of contemporary life. Her recent solo exhibitions include Doom Doom Delight at TUR and The Big Deal at Gallery 427 in Riga, both in 2024. These projects explored themes of ecological unease, mortality, and mass behaviour through richly composed installations that merge fragility with theatricality. Mierkalne has also participated in international exhibitions and forums at various venues, including Tallinn Art Hall, Lethaby Gallery in London, The Distillery Gallery in Boston, and Garage Gallery in Prague.
