Jass Kaselaan

Human Head

2018

A massive collection of plaster casts made from an archaeological find resembling a human head or bust. This installation, consisting of over a hundred copies, explores themes through opposing concepts such as “individual” and “multitude,” “identity” and “sameness,” “personality” and “anonymity,” among others. In Human Head, Kaselaan uses a basic technical approach to create a materially compelling and semantically rich whole, without excessive deliberation. The work has previously been exhibited at the Kuressaare Museum and the Tartu Art House.
